Gafae is the oldest female we have captured. We estimated that she was five or six years old at the time of capture (February). She was very light at 6.6 kiligrams but was generally in good health. Her homerange is contiguous with the ocean and she may have a tougher time than others finding food and fresh water. It is perhaps due to this that she often moves long distances inland in her nocturnal patrols. Gafae is getting quite used to our nightime surveys and sometimes lets us watch as she sits on the bank of a fish pond near the eastern edge of her homerange.
