A key goal of the project has been to convey the importance of fishing cats and their wetland habitats to as wide an audience as possible. Media coverage over tha last two months has helped us get the message out.
In August, the project was featured in the Singapore Straits Times in both feature article and online blog formats. Shortly thereafter, ThaiPBS, Thaialnd's premier networki for nature and environment broadcasting picked up on the story and arranged to visit and film. Having planned on a short piece, the production crew were so excited about the project and the many related stories to tell that they decided to dedicate two 1/2-hour programs on the project. The shows featured project leader Passanan Cutter, Project Advisors Pornchai Pattumrattanathan and Parntep Rattanakorn, other staff, and several local residents of the communities surrounding the study area.
